Minecraft Nether Fortress Finder

The comprehensive, step-by-step instructions on how to find a nether fortress can be found by clicking the link in this article.

The perceived distance between underworld strongholds was considerably increased in the 1.16 Nether Update if you're playing in 1.16 or later. Prepare to travel hundreds, if not thousands, of blocks in numerous directions to discover the stronghold. The fruit of the stronghold, though, is delicious once you've discovered it.

Basic Suggestions

  • When searching the Nether, especially if you've discovered golden apples or enchanted your armor, just put on a set of unenchanted iron armor and begin exploring. The Nether is filled with vicious creatures, and you may never be able to reclaim your belongings if you perish. All of your belongings will very certainly be consumed if you fall into a lava sea. You're seeking for a massive structure that stands out among the usual red structures (or grey or blue, depending on your biome). It's colossal and constructed of dark red bricks. The fact that certain elements appear like they belong in a box should be a distinguishing trait. Other items you could come upon are:
  • You've discovered a little broken doorway, maybe with some steps or blackstone slabs. These are ruined portals with a treasure chest and gold blocks within. You've discovered a massive towering black building, smaller than a nether stronghold but still formidable.
  • Be careful, since opening the chest and mining the gold blocks will attract surrounding piglins. This is a bastion remnant with several gold blocks and treasure boxes (maybe even a magma cube spawner if you're fortunate), but if you're playing 1.16.2 or higher, reserve them for later in the game, and even in 1.16-1.16.1, reserve these for after you conquer the nether stronghold and have potions (see below).
  • Do you have a saddle? Great. Have you discovered a blue biome with blue trees and endermen? It gets even better. You may now ride the little red monsters (called striders) that appear often in lava seas if you harvest some warped fungus from the warped forest biome and manufacture warped fungus on a stick. These are quite handy for crossing Nether oceans, especially vast ones where the other side may be obscured. You may also just sit on one and snipe at neighboring mobs that are attempting to kill you.
  • If you're having trouble finding a nether castle and you've enabled cheats, you may use the command /locate fortress to get the coordinates of the nearest nether stronghold. If you know your world's seed, you may use one of many internet tools to find out where all of your world's nether strongholds are.
  • Increasing your render distance will allow you to see further, but it can also cause your computer to slow, which might be disastrous if you are ambushed. Furthermore, because you won't be able to see beyond roughly 12 pieces due to Nether fog, a larger render distance won't aid you from that point forward.

Nether Fortresses: Advanced Strategies

Java Edition generates nether structures. Each zone is represented by a black line, while the dots indicate coordinates. Where they can create is green, and where they can't is red.

Bedrock Edition's nether structure creation. Each zone is represented by a black line, while the dots indicate coordinates. Where they can create is green, and where they can't is red.

Your original nether portal will be close to the global center in the Nether if you make your nether portal around your spawn point in the Overworld. The Subterranean is organized into several hundred block broad sections, each having either a nether stronghold or a bastion remnant, which may be difficult to grasp. On the northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast directions, four of these zones ring the Nether's core. You should try to locate a nearby nether stronghold so that you may return there anytime you need extra blazing rods or wither skulls. So, you want to investigate each of these four places to see whether there is a fortification present. You can be sure there won't be a fortress in the same area if you observe a bastion relic. Turn around and seek another zone until you come across a subterranean fortress.

There's a chance your world won't have a fortress in the four areas nearest to it. Because the probability of a fortress generating in an area is 25% (40%) in Java Edition and 13% (33.3%) in Bedrock Edition, there is only a 13.0% chance in Java Edition and a 19.8% chance in Bedrock Edition that this is the case. So be prepared if there are no nearby fortifications in your planet, but bear in mind that if there aren't any, there's a good chance there will be.

Structure in general

The subterranean stronghold is constructed of fire-resistant nether brick. Gold, horse armor, diamonds, nether wart, iron ingots, and even armor may be found in the structure's corridors, which hold chests containing gold, horse armor, diamonds, nether wart, iron ingots, and even armor. There are stairwells that go to various areas of the fortification. The construction also crosses lava lakes and might be damaged in certain spots.
